This practical workshop will introduce you to the video editing software Final Cut (Video Editing 101). We will also touch on the different ways to put short videos online. We'll check out local resources that can provide technical assistance, equipment and other useful things in the film and video world. For people passionate about video who want to become more autonomous and knowledgeable in the creation of their content.

Tricks from the trade: how to prep for a demonstration, how to deal with the cops (different approaches) , how to deal with the question of consent, how to equip oneself for outdoor filming, how to deal with crisis situations, safety, etc...

A collaboration of the CKUT News Collective and the Montreal Independent Media Centre. Who is the alternative, or independant, media? What are our shared values? What are our perspectives, our issues and concerns? Alternative Media 101 is a quick introduction to these questions for newcomers, and a chance for independent journalists, pirate broadcasters, media activists and all the rest to come together, share their projects, and exchange on these questions.
